Admission to Christmas
Pastor Theresa Ordell
LET’S SUPPOSE CHRISTMAS WAS AN EVENT LIKE A CONCERT:
general admission – you got a ticket to the show – all the people
back stage or all access – you can go see the artist, eat dinner, come and go those with favor
Executives – give the tickets – some they call and some call them – angel, shepherds, wise men
VIP guests – Anna, Simeon
The Celebrity Star – Jesus the Savior – the Messiah
Stage presentation – the Heavenly Host
Luke 2:8-11 NIV – “general admission tickets” to be distributed by shepherds
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at
night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and
they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will
cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is
the Messiah, the Lord.
messenger angel declaring John 1:9 – lights everyone that comes into the world
this was for Jews and Gentiles (v. 32 revelation to Gentiles and glory to Jews)
Gabriel was the angel
Luke 2:13-15 NIV – “backstage passes” to be distributed by shepherds
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” 15 When the angels had left them and
gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that
has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
We could see the Heavenly Host for the first time!
If Jesus left heaven to come to earth, the angels followed and made the announcement!
Luke 2:14 NKJV (this translation is often misread and misinterpreted)
“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” [c]
Luke 2:14 TLB “Glory to God in the highest heaven,” they sang, [d] “and peace on earth for all those
pleasing him.”
Luke 2:14 AMPC Glory to God in the highest [heaven], and on earth peace among men with whom
He is well pleased [ [e] men of goodwill, of His favor].
Luke 2:14 NLT “Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
I see the lights, gifts and decorations, but does his favor rest here???
An angel – Gabriel – messenger angels – general admission tickets
Heavenly Host – army angels with the messenger angel to surround the message
The host comes to protect the delivery of the Word – Jesus was the Message
